McCain Acts Presidential While Hillary & Barack Bicker

While Clinton & Obama duke it out in the mainstream media, Senator McCain was made a presidential-like trip to the Middle East and Europe.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — As they fight for every precious delegate, White House hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are trading shots on how to resolve the dilemma of Michigan and Florida, barred from the Democratic Party's nominating race.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- President Bush is still firmly in the White House, but Sen. John McCain was busy presenting the new face of Republican America to the world this week.

Down and Down The Dollar Goes

With each day that the dollar falls and the euro gains, the United States is losing grip on what little influence it had through the dollar. Several factors leading to the weak dollar are a slow economy, high energy prices, and the wars. Our economy has become almost stagnant because of the housing fiasco and rising inflation. Oil is trading for over $100 and gas will cost $4 a gallon by the summer. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are draining our economy of additional capital which in turn is the final blow for the dollar.

So what can possibly be done to address this issue? Everything. Nothing.

My suggestion is to make a global transition and have oil traded by the euro. This would alleviate the dollar. By switching oil sales to the euro, we would literally be taking the strong world off the back of a weak US economy. Several years ago, this was an unrealistic option. In present day it seems very real.

OPEC Says No

Earlier this week President Bush urged OPEC to increase oil output to ease high gas prices. In return OPEC said no way Jose.

U.S. Sides With Colombia

Over the last several days, South America has grown very tense with a possible war developing between Venezuela and Colombia. The first is angry at the second for having a combat operation in neighboring Ecuardor. In the incurssion, Colombia killed several rebels and their leader. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was reported to have ties to the rebels and there for his reason for tension.

In speeches since the incident, Chavez has accused Colombia of being the United State's puppet. There really is nothing new about the hate mongering that Chavez spews. If this indeed leads to a conflict developing between the two nations, the future of South America's safety in jeopardy. Now is a time for diplomacy to step in and all the tough talk to subside. Lets just hope it does.

Today rioters stormed the U.S., Turkish, Croatian, and Bosnian embassies in the city of Belgade,
Serbia. A burned body was found inside the American embassy. The riots were attributed to Kosovo announcing its independence from Serbia.The riots were finally broken up when the riot police began using tear gas.

President Bush In Africa

This week President Bush went on a trip to Africa. Reports came out earlier this year that this would be his busiest year traveling. So far the trip has been looking like a success.
